Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing Laser facial rejuvenation: an anti-aging
treatment Over time, with sun exposure and other environmental insults our skin begins to demonstrate advanced signs of aging - deep wrinkles, significant photo damage, keratoses, brown spots, poor skin texture and a wide variety of other challenging skin conditions. Fractional CO2 laser treatments utilize a unique microablative technology
that produces thousands of tiny microthermal zones in the skin which then
allows generation of new collagen as well as dermal and epidermal cells.
The result creates a more youthful and vibrant appearance to the skin,
minimizing skin imperfections. There is redness and peeling for only a
few days rather than the weeks to months required with traditional resurfacing
lasers. A series of 3 to 4 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart is recommended.
This new generation of fractional or microablative carbon dioxide lasers
is considered the latest cutting-edge technology for facial rejuvenation.
The laser ablates a fraction of the epidermis and dermis in the treatment
area. An array of microscopic thermal wounds is created that removes portions
of the skin within very tiny zones leaving the adjacent areas intact.
This microablative process of laser skin resurfacing is safe and effective
not only for facial rejuvenation, but elsewhere on the body. It is capable
of improving wrinkles, acne scars, atrophic scars as well as benign pigmented
lesions associated with sun-damaged skin. Because the procedure spares
significant portions of the epidermis and dermis, healing is rapid compared
to fully ablative CO2 laser skin resurfacing and downtime is proportionately
reduced.
